Lilia was born in Colombia and trained there as an architect at the University of America. She came to England in 1979, studied Art at the University of Hertfordshire and graduated with a BA (Fine Art).

In 1989 Lilia began to specialise in ceramics. She trained at Kingsway College, London and joined Albion Square Studio, Hackney.

"A great source of inspiration in my work comes from the ceramics of early South American civilisations and their symbolic use of human and animal imagery.

I try to explore ideas relationships and states of mind, combining geometric abstraction with more expressive sculpture.

I am at present working on large sculptural forms in stoneware using a combination of oxides and glazes."
Lilia has exhibited widely at art fairs and galleries throughout England.
